Prosecution Witness In Case Against Conrad Murray Has Left The US
Tim Lopez, the owner of a pharmaceutical supply warehouse, has left the US and is not able to be contacted. Lopez has apparently gone to Thailand.
Prosecutors informed Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor about the latest development. The judge is going to determine if the prosecution can use Lopez’s previous testimony as to not delay the trial any further. Two hearings were scheduled for next week to review this option. Jury voir dire is set to be begin Friday September 23.
Lopez was to testify that he supplied Dr. Conrad Murray with 15 liters of the surgical drug Propofol. Lopez’s pharmaceutical warehouse was located in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Monday’s hearing will encompass a few other issues along with the Lopez testimony. The prosecution has requested that the testimony from Michael Jackson’s make up artist be excluded. Karen Faye was to testify for the defense, who wanted her to testify that Jackson’s health had been poor the last few weeks of his life. Prosecution says that Faye’s testimony is based on here-say.
Also, according to reports from CNN, the defense wants to call a medical examiner from Texas that was brought to California to inspect the medical examiner’s facilities. The prosecution says that the Texas medical examiner’s testimony is irrelevant to the case. On the table as well, is further review of the experiments that the prosecution wants introduced in the trial from the college students in Chile. The experiment involved the students swallowing Propofol. The prosecutor wants to use the results of this experiment to show that the defense’s claim that Jackson swallowed the drug and died, is not possible. The study was never published or reviewed by other’s in the science and medical communities.
Update: The Witness was finally reached and was en-route to the US for the trial.
