Philadelphia Police Officer Arrested For Rape Committed While On Duty
A Philadelphia police officer was arrested and charged with with Rape, Involuntary Deviant Sexual Intercourse, Sexual Assault, Indecent Assault, Indecent Exposure and Official Oppression after he allegedly picked up a female at a bus stop.
The female victim claims that at around 3:30 AM on August 11, she flagged down Officer Keith Corley II while he was in a marked police car and on patrol, to request a ride. He obliged and allowed the female into the vehicle. That’s where she says things went a way she would have never expected.
The officer drove to an spot where he made the female perform a sex act. After the rape was over, he then dropped the female off at a terminal, where the female found a transit officer and reported the incident.
“We are committed to rooting out those individuals who would violate the trust of the public and even commit crimes as a police officer. None of that is tolerable and we’ll take whatever action we need to take in order to rid our ranks of them.” — Police Commissioner Charles H. Ramsey in interview with CBS radio KYW in Philadelphia.
Corley has been suspended for 30 days by Ramsey with intent to dismiss.
